Guidance for women: a major challenge for equality
Despite often excellent academic results, girls remain under-represented in scientific and technological careers. In response to this disparity, the Girls' Day scheme mobilizes high schools to inspire young girls and prove that scientific and technical careers are within their reach.
This initiative is directly in line with the plan "Filles et Mathématiques" launched in May 2025 and the academic plan for gender equality and the regional ambitions of the Calls for Expressions of Interest. The aim is clear: to encourage ambition, without self-censorship.
A measurable impact: the results of the 2025 experiment
Last year, the arrival of almost 300 schoolgirls enabled us to measure the real effectiveness of these immersion days. The figures and feedback speak for themselves:
-
A boosted sense of competence : Participants now feel more capable of tackling S&T (Sciences et Techniques) subjects, thanks to a real understanding of the issues.
-
Clarified plans for the future: The event reduced uncertainties linked to orientation. Nearly one in two students now wants to learn more about scientific and technical careers after their visit.
What students can expect at Girls' Day in Normandy in 2026
Throughout March 2026, more than 30 high schools in Normandy are rolling out a rich program to deconstruct preconceived ideas. Among them, 20 establishments are offering a specific course around the energy sector!
Schoolgirls in 4th and 3rd grade will benefit from :
-
Discovery workshops: A hands-on immersion in the high school's scientific, technological and digital training courses.
-
Inspiring meetings: Privileged exchange times with female teachers, current high school students and professionals from the sector.
-
Discussion and reflection: Interactive activities to identify and combat gender stereotypes that still too often hold back career choices.
See you in March in Normandy's high schools to make equal opportunities a concrete reality and perhaps inspire the next scientific vocations in our region.
